Our vision for all akonga groups is to ensure that they are supported to succeed and that their diverse needs and the creation of a sense of belonging are at the forefront of all planning and decision making at UC.
The Student Care team provides pastoral care services, study related wellbeing advice, outreach and crisis intervention support for akonga by facilitating and optimising their personal, social and academic experience at UC. The Student Care Manager role is integral in leading, developing and supporting these services.
Reporting to the Director of Student Success you will be responsible for ensuring the Student Care team delivers a holistic service model of care that supports the transition needs of akonga and provides individualised care and guidance to domestic and international students. The role requires expertise in the areas of pastoral care and wellbeing education. You will be a dynamic and service orientated leader with exceptional collaboration and communications skills and experience in working in bicultural and diverse environments.
As the successful candidate you will have:
- an understanding of and the ability to apply bicultural (and/or cultural) competence
- a tertiary qualification in Social Sciences, Coaching, Health and or Education
- extensive experience working with tertiary students and providing pastoral care services
- experience in leading a team including supervision and coaching of staff
- proven experience gathering and applying evidence/research based practices
