Are you fluent in te reo Māori (both ōkawa and ōpaki) and English, with Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori certification of competency in translation and interpretation? If so then read on because we’re keen to hear from you.
As Parliament's secretariat, the Office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives / Te Tari o Te Manahautū o Te Whare Māngai plays a key role in maintaining our country’s democracy. A pivotal function of Te Tari o Te Manahautū is to ensure that the public of New Zealand know about what Parliament is doing and are able to participate in its proceedings - and this is where you come in.
In this role you will provide interpretation and translation services for Parliament and its committees, particularly the Māori Affairs select committee. You will also provide te reo Māori advice and support to the staff and managers of Te Tari o Te Manahautū o Te Whare Māngai.
In addition to providing simultaneous English interpretation of spoken te reo Māori, you will be required to translate select committee reports into te reo Māori and to prepare written te reo Māori transcripts and English translations of te reo Māori spoken by committee members and submitters.
