By focusing on Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and Te Aho Arataki Marau mō te Ako i Te Reo Māori the Te Reo Māori group sets the direction for what students learn, how they progress and how school leaders and teachers can support every child and student from years 1 to 13 to achieve their educational goals and aspirations. The group ensures alignment of the Ministry’s work programme to fully support student progress and achievement across the curriculum from early learning through to schools, kura and wharekura education. The Te Reo Māori group uses evidence to design solutions, resources, tools and services that lift educational achievement for all by targeting investments and interventions.
Lead Adviser – Curriculum Design and Assessment
This Lead Adviser will lead the development of substantial curriculum, teaching and learning initiatives that support all 0–18 year olds learning Te Reo Maori and / or learning in kura and M ori medium settings. They ensure a deliberate focus on student achievement is maintained by providing thought leadership and guidance about proven high quality curriculum and assessment development processes. They will lead the design of rich and responsive initiatives that focus on strengthening curriculum design and assessment to help learners develop the competencies they need for study, work and life-long learning. They ensure best practice pedagogy is used to inform initiative design, development, delivery and measurement

About the person
- experience with Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and Te Aho Arataki Marau m te Ako i Te Reo Maori
- ability to use te reo Maori to undertake work within these roles
- proven ability to provide leadership to other team members to collectively reach team goals
- clear capability to lead change management initiatives
- strong effective Maori relationships, and ability to strengthen and grow these relationships
- effective project management techniques and methodologies to deliver high quality programmes
