Are you a dedicated, motivating and visionary teacher education academic willing to provide strategic contribution to the College of Education, Health and Human Development?
Applications are invited from academics for three positions within the School of Teacher Education:
· Two STEM Education positions (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). One role at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor, with a focus on science education in primary or secondary, and the second role at the rank of Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor with a focus in mathematics and/or numeracy in primary
· One Teacher Education position - Teacher Learning / Professional Inquiry and Practice. At the rank of Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor, with expertise and research in teacher education and teacher learning with a second subject specialism in curriculum (e.g. Social Science, English or other)
Applicants will need to demonstrate:
· an understanding of and the ability to apply bicultural (and/or cultural) competence
· the ability to lead and develop undergraduate and postgraduate courses in their area(s) of expertise
· evidence of effective supervision of Doctoral level students and be developing a track record of research success, including externally funded research grants.
The School of Teacher Education offers exciting research and teaching opportunities through its new home in a world class facility, located in the heart of the University of Canterbury Ilam Campus.The Education building will be opened at the end of 2017 and will offer state of the art digital technologies and innovative learning and social spaces that encourage collaboration and multidisciplinary ways of working. The discipline of Education at the University of Canterbury is consistently ranked in the top 100 in the world (QS 2017 rankings).
The successful applicant will have opportunities for international conference travel to support their research and teaching activities and will have the opportunity to network with international leaders in Education, Health Sciences and a range of disciplines through the University’s unique Erskine Fellowship and Canterbury Fellowship Scheme (which enables the University to host world leading academics) and through the University’s academic staff exchange programmes with Oxford and Cambridge Universities in the UK.
Applicants will require a Ph.D. or Ed.D in Education or a related discipline, have experience working in educational contexts and be a leader in scholarly and research achievements related to teacher education. A Tertiary Teaching qualification is desirable or the commitment to undertake such a qualification with the support of the School.
